In article two of next months issue (February) I discuss my application of this vocabulary to the drum set. Two exciting articles that were in the works for quite sometime. Enjoy!

MY MUSIC, MY WORDS, OUR GENRE

I have received many emails and comments on the music I write and the particular genre it can be categorized as ... Thank you for all your words and as per the genre questions ... this I say:
Keep in mind that music can not be categorized, and it is only done as a way of organization for popular cataloging, but for those who name it avant-garde this is certainly not the genre. This music is simply the sounds and colors I hear and have heard in my head ... My roots. It is not Avant-garde because it stems from my roots and education, therefore I've not created anything new, I've just built something on top of a great foundation built by the many geniuses before us. Remember that a solid foundation is what makes a house last and can keep the cold and rain out for centuries.......not its walls and ceilings.
